Featured Humane Society: Heart of Louisiana Humane Society
Heart of Louisiana Humane Society was founded in March 2008 by Rae McManus. It is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to help manage the large number of abandoned animals in Winn Parish.
They operate solely on fundraising activities, donations and membership fees. They operate as a network of volunteers and foster homes for rescued animals and also assist the municipal shelter. HLHS is an independent, all-volunteer organization and is not a branch of any larger animal-welfare or animal-rights organization.
