Featured Basenji Rescue: Basenji Rescue and Transport,
Inc. (BRAT)
Basenji Rescue and
Transport, Inc., or BRAT, rescues hundreds of basenjis every year. They
place around 275 to 300 basenjis across the United States and Canada
annually. They regularly have about 100 dogs in rescue every month. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home dogs of the basenji breed.
BRAT is an all-volunteer organization and has been recognized by the IRS as a
tax-exempt charitable corporation since its founding in 1999. BRAT rescues
basenjis from shelters, abusive situations, and relinquishing owners. They
provide routine and advanced veterinary care for our dogs and insure that they
have been spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, tested for heartworm,
strip-tested for Fanconi, and temperament evaluated.
